Line today said it plans to close its MixRadio streaming music service. MixRadio was initially developed by Nokia for Windows Phone, sold to Microsoft, and later sold to Line. Line later released MixRadio to the Android and iOS platforms. Line says the music service simply isn't viable. Line's core product is a mobile messaging service. "After a careful assessment of the subsidiary's overall performance, the financial challenges posed by the music streaming market, and priorities of Line, Line has determined that future growth would be difficult to ensure and decided to discontinue the MixRadio music streaming service," said the company in a blog post. The company, which focuses its efforts in is Asia, had hoped the music service would help it expand. Moving forward, Line will remain focused on Asia.
