If you used Messenger prior to late 2013, you may remember that Facebook initially included SMS integration in the Messenger platform. However, Facebook removed the feature during November 2013 claiming that few users actually used the feature on a consistent basis. Previously, the SMS feature-let you-text friends that-didn’t-use Facebook or even use Facebook Messenger. At the moment, the test is only open to a small number of Android users in North America. To check and see if the feature currently exists on your Android device, simply look for the “Change SMS App” option within the settings of Facebook Messenger. Speaking about the revival of SMS, a Facebook representative told Venturebeat “ At Messenger, we are always trying to create new ways for people to communicate seamlessly with everyone. Right now, we’re testing the ability for people to easily bring all their conversations — from SMS and Messenger — to one place. It’s a really simple way to get, see and respond to all your SMS messages in just one app. By choosing to access your SMS messages in Messenger, they’re right alongside all the other enhanced features that Messenger offers .” In addition to the SMS test, Facebook pushed out a new feature for Android users that provides multiple account support on a single device. Rather than forcing multiple users to log in and out-in each time Messenger is fired up, switching between account profiles that are all authorized on the device is a possibility now. This could prove useful when sharing a single device within a family or group of friends as well as a business setting where a company-owned device is passed around among employees. This feature is now available to Android users worldwide and can be activated by adding users in account settings.
