The SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick has been expanded to 200GB, and the SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive 3.0 has been stretched to 128GB in capacity. SanDisk says the new storage devices are targeted at mobile devices and promises faster transfer speeds and enhanced capabilities for users’ smartphones and tablets. The new 200GB Wireless Stick, priced at $119.99, is SanDisk’s highest capacity mobile drive yet. It includes the SanDisk Connect app for managing files between Mac, PCs, Fire tablets and iOS and Android devices. The 128GB SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive 3.0 ($59.99) is for Android users, and doubles the storage-a user can access, said the company, claiming speeds of up 150-megabits per second-from drive to computer. The new drive works in tandem with the SanDisk Memory Zone app for Android. Related: Western Digital buys SanDisk for $19 billion “With the explosion of content, people need more advanced storage solutions to keep up with the volume and quality of the photos, videos and files they’re creating on their mobile devices,” said Dinesh Bahal, vice president of product marketing at SanDisk. Extreme 510 Portable SSD SanDisk also revealed its Extreme 510 Portable SSD with 480GB capacity, 430MB/s transfer speeds, and SecureAccess software with 128-bit encryption. The durable SSD is aimed at photographers and videographers for field use with a rubber dumper, and an IP55-rating for water and dust resistance. It is priced at $249.99. “I am constantly out on location in extreme conditions and need to have the most reliable, durable products available to keep up with my demands,” said Lucas Gilman, photographer and filmmaker and member of the SanDisk Extreme Team. “The SanDisk Extreme 510 drive is perfectly sized to clip onto my pack and I don’t have to worry about it getting wet or jostled around while I’m working — I know it was designed to withstand outdoor environments.” While portable hard drives are never the star of CES, these announcements do put SanDisk in good company, and give it a chance to go toe-to-toe with Seagate and Samsung, the other exhibtors showing impressive new portable drives at CES 2016.
