Acer’s 8-inch HD Iconia One 8 tablet costs just $100, and it’s very kid-friendly

Acer has now joined in with the Iconia One 8, which is different to the other models in a few ways, one being that it doesn’t sport a super-tough body. It still comes with the benefits of kid-friendly software and features, plus a bargain price of just $100. It has a screen that measures 8-inches with a 720p resolution, making it larger and higher-res than its competitors. Android 5.1 is installed, along with Acer’s Kids Center, a custom user interface designed for little ones, complete with a selection of kid-friendly content. Acer has added a set of parental controls, a daily time limit, and the apps on offer include games, books, and pre-screened websites. Related: The best tablets for kids A MediaTek quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM power the Iconia One 8, and there’s a pair of cameras onboard, too — a 5-megapixel camera on the back, and a 2-megapixel camera on the front. The battery’s good for around 9 hours of use, and there’s 16GB of internal memory, plus a MicroSD card slot with support for cards up to 128GB in size. There’s also a choice of white or blue back covers. For the price, Acer hasn’t messed around with the spec list here. The Iconia One 8 will go on sale in the U.S. this February for $100, with a European, Middle East, and African launch happening just before. However, the cost will be higher, at 130 euros. Considering Amazon’s Fire Kids edition is £100 in the UK and $100 in the States, it looks like a good value. We’ll keep you updated on the Acer tablet’s release right here.
