This week’s mobile launch marks a rare reappearance for The Last Remnant , as the game saw only a limited number of ports in the years after its initial release. Final Fantasy XV aiming for a simultaneous worldwide release The Last Remnant , released as an Xbox 360 exclusive in 2008, is a graphically rich RPG known for its unique battle system, which puts players in control of multiple battalions during combat sequences. The game’s storyline pits multiple humanoid races against one another in competition for magical artifacts known as Remnants. The Last Remnant was one of several Xbox 360 role-playing games developed by Japanese studios over the course of the platform’s lifespan, joining other major releases like Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey . Square Enix itself published many genre standouts for Microsoft’s last-generation console, including Final Fantasy XIII and Infinite Undiscovery . A PC version of The Last Remnant premiered via Steam in 2009. Though a PlayStation 3 port of The Last Remnant was announced, a retail release for Sony’s platform never materialized. Square Enix’s mobile port of The Last Remnant is powered by G-cluster Global Cloud Technology, and requires a persistent online connection to play. Previously, Square Enix released The Last Remnant for mobile devices via Dive In, a pay-for-play subscription service that also hosted a streamed version of Final Fantasy VII . The latest mobile adaptation of The Last Remnant is available as a standalone app priced at 2,000 yen (approximately $16). Unlike the previous Dive In edition, additional purchases or subscription fees are not required. The mobile version of The Last Remnant is currently exclusive to Japanese app storefronts. A North American release has not been announced. Also watch: "The Square" Trailer Please enable Javascript to watch this video
