The issue may be linked to the device’s noise cancellation functionality. There are a number of Google Product Forum and XDA-Developers threads reporting instances of the issue, according to Android Police. Users are reporting that the person on the other end of a call has difficulty hearing them (that is, the person on the Nexus 6P) in speakerphone mode and standard call mode. Related : Nexus 6P rear glass panel spontaneously cracking for some users “While talking to my wife today she could barely hear me and said it sounded like I was very far away or muffled,” according to Google Product Forum user Jamie Corbett. “This was while I had the headset to my ear like normal.” Users in a Reddit thread report sharing the issue as well, with some users saying the encounter the issue when they hold the phone between their head and shoulder and block the rear microphone, which may hint at an issue with the Nexus 6P’s noise cancellation, which makes use of multiple microphones to filter background noise to make calls clearer. “Completely had this issue and disabling noise cancellation fixed it,” according to Reddit user bossbrew.
