Emphasis on nearly. The recently introduced Canyon midsize pickup truck didn’t get the Denali treatment at launch, but GMC is getting around to-that with the 2017 Canyon Denali debuting-this week at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. Like the other Denali models, the Canyon gets some extra exterior brightwork, and more-upscale features. The Denali is distinguished from lesser models by a chrome grille, model-specific 20-inch alloy wheels, chrome fog lamp bezels and side steps, and a polished exhaust tip. On the inside, there’s a re-trimmed instrument panel and center console, Mulan leather seats, and a smattering of Denali logos. There are also three USB ports, two on the rear of the center console, and one inside. Related: 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 first drive Denali models also get the most standard equipment in the Canyon range, including everything in GMC’s technology cupboard. That includes the IntelliLink infotainment system with navigation and an 8-inch touchscreen, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for compatible smartphones. GMC is rolling out CarPlay first, with Android Auto set to follow with a software update in March 2016. Like most other GM vehicles, the Canyon Denali also comes standard with OnStar 4G LTE and a built in Wi-Fi hotspot (separate data plan required). The Denali trim level is offered on crew cab models only, with rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. The standard engine is the 3.6-liter V6 offered in other Canyon models, rated at 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. Buyers can also opt for the Duramax 2.8-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder, which produces 181 horsepower-and 369 lb-ft. Both engines come with six-speed automatic transmissions. The base 2.5-liter gasoline four-cylinder isn’t available on Denali models. The 2017 GMC Canyon Denali will go on sale before the end of the year. Pricing information isn’t available yet, but expect the Denali to top all other current Canyon models.
