Rumors are already starting to gather regarding what’s being called the Huawei P9, along with its larger spin-off sister device, the P9 Max. Nothing is official yet, but here’s what we think we know about the new P9 range so far. Huawei P9 Huawei only launched the P8 in April 2015, so talk of a successor is premature, but there are still some interesting snippets of news out there. Rumors began just a short while after the P8 was announced, with speculation the next version would have a very different design, this time with a curved rear panel and a curved screen to match. Related: Everything we think we know about the Huawei Mate 8 It was speculated the screen size would stay at 5.2-inches, but the camera would grow to have 16 megapixels, up from the P8’s 13 megapixels. In October, a Twitter leak showed a rear section supposedly taken from a P9 prototype, which had two cutouts, potentially for two camera lenses. If this turns out to be correct, it won’t be the first time Huawei has played with more than one camera sensor, employing the same technology on the Honor 6 Plus. The Kirin 950 is official, and is confirmed to have eight cores capable of operating at either 2.3GHz or 1.8GHz, plus a smaller always-on coprocessor too. There are many tweaks to give around 40-percent more performance over the previous Kirin chips, with a strong 60-percent reduction in power consumption. Huawei P9 Max Huawei also launched the P8 Max alongside the P8, a much larger counterpart which came with a similar design and specs. Our first hint a P9 Max is in the works came in November, when a benchmark test was leaked, detailing the device. Benchmarks are easily faked, so it’s not actual proof a P9 Max is being developed by Huawei. According to the test, the P9 Max may also use the Kirin 950 processor, and have a massive 6.2-inch screen (though not as giant as the 6.8-inch P8 Max), with an equally huge 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution. The specifications may also include 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage space, and Android 6.0. If it’s all accurate, then the P9 Max sounds impressive. Huawei isn’t likely to release the P9, the P9 Max, or the equally likely P9 Lite in 2015, given the P8 won’t be a year old until early 2016. This means more leaks are almost inevitable, and we’ll keep you updated right here. Also watch: Huawei Watch Review: A stunning Android Wear Watch Please enable Javascript to watch this video
