Root a Droid Eris with 2.1 ROM

I just got in an Eris that has the 2.1 ROM on it and I am not able to Root the phone. I have tried to downgrade to the 1.5 version and have had no success.

Does anyone on here have what it takes to downgrade to the 1.5 version so I can get this phone rooted? Thanks for your help.

PS. It appears this phone has the 2.1 leaked version. Thanks for any help.

Have you tried this to downgrade
Download the MR2 Uprade Eris ROM from verizon partner:
Personal Communications Devices ([Only registered and activated users can see links])

1. Unzip the file
2. Plug your phone to your PC/MAC.
3. Find your folder (MAC or PC folder)
4. Run .exe file in the folder "RUU_Desire_C_Verizon_WWE_1.17.605.1_release_s igne d_with_driver.exe"
5. follow on screen instructions.

Smitty, we're you getting a "wrong image" or a "no image found" error on the recovery install? I got this error on Eris with 2.1, put same sd card into a 1.5 Eris and got same problem. Never goes to "Push Activate", just sticks there.
