Google today made the Android 5.1 SDK available to developers. The updated SDK includes tools developers need in order to use the new features of Android 5.1. Some of the features are support for dual SIM cards and a new Android Protect function that device owners can use to render their lost or stolen devices useless to thieves. Google said the Nexus 4, 5, 6, 7 (2012, 2013), Nexus 9, Nexus 10, and Nexus Player should all be updated to Android 5.1 in the next few weeks. Google suggests developers download the SDK and begin making their apps compatible with the latest version of the mobile operating system.
