Basically, if User A includes User B's Gmail address — or sometimes even a non-Gmail email address — into the text of a Google Calendar entry, User B will have the event added to his Google Calendar. The bug seems to happen only with the desktop browser-based version of Google Calendar, not with the mobile Google Calendar app for Android.
