i've gotten a couple good trades.
traded 2 full flashes/esn changes and a snap on case for a paint job and body work on my old car. the dude owned the shop so he didn't car haha 150=2k i guess traded a jailbreak/unlock on a iphone 3g for an iphone 2g.
traded 2 lg5500's for new tires for my brothers car
traded a full flash and a snap case for a michelin pilot power front tire for my old r6.
traded a snap case for a burger and a beer at a badass grill by my old store
traded a full flash on a bb curve for 2 razr's and a katana.
waived an esn change for 1lb of sees' candy suckers!

Heck yeah. It's a good business to be in. Everybody needs a phone. I had a transmission go out on me on a car and I installed a network for a guy to replace the tranny. I still have the car and his network is humming along.

:^/ Have them looked over by someone who knows his stuff. An antique would be a definite go, but a reproduction would be iffy. If it's a good reproduction it may be a good trade. If it's cheap, I'd give it a pass.

A good rule of thumb would be never to barter for something you would mind not being able to get rid of again. That is, don't trade for something you wouldn't want to get stuck with.

U guy's don't wanna know some of the stuff I've gotten. Lets just say I deal in some underground stuff. I get offered drugs and game systems all the time for this. It is mostly stuff I refuse. It is data transfers I get interesting things for strangely. I got $10 and a German chocolate cake for a data transfer from a treo to a curve. I also got a rumor 2 and an omnia for a data transfer from the omnia to a treo. The guy then came back in and paid $10 for a transfer from the treo to a curve. Basically he just gave me two phones.

As much as I'd love to have something to contribute to the boards, the process really isn't guide worthy. My shop has a cellebrite to transfer data. You hook one phone to one side and another phone to the other and choose the right phones and press next. The part that makes it a service you can sell isn't that it is difficult. It is that the machines cost a lot of money.
