Microsoft is whacking prices on Black Friday for its first-generation Surface Windows RT tablets (http://www.pcworld.com/article/2012886/review-surface-rt-microsofts-bid-for-a-thing-of-its-own.html?tk=rel_news) as well as for Windows 8 laptops (http://www.pcworld.com/article/211000/laptop_buying_guide.html?tk=rel_news) and Xbox consoles.
While Microsoft has had a tough time putting a dent in Apple's tablet share, one thing for sure is that Microsoft will be discounting its devices (http://www.pcworld.com/article/2065464/pre-black-friday-deals-20-off-dell-inspiron-17-envy-23-more.html?tk=rel_news) more than Apple this holiday season (last year Apple shaved $30 or $40 off its iPads).
