The homeowner who shot and killed 19-year-old-Renisha McBride-on-Saturday morning as she apparently searched for help following a car accident has told investigators that his firearm went off accidentally. The shot hit McBride on her face, near her mouth, Dearborn Heights chief detective-Lt. James Serwatowski told the Detroit Free Press. A few hours before her death, McBride, who is black, was involved in a car accident in the mostly white Detroit suburb, the official confirmed. According to the family, McBride's cell phone was out of batteries that night, and the teenager was likely looking for a house that would let her use a phone to make a call.
