The cost is my concern.
Actually my wife is a bit pissy. We have a Version Note2 and a Verizon S3 on Boost (sort of). (guess which one is mine :) ) and I have not been able to get data on either of them. (well... I did somehow manage to get 1x on mine), the S3. Done her's exactly the same, don't know what's up with that.
Several people here have TeamViewed in with me and have not been able to figure it out either. And one of them flashes phones on a very regular basis. Even wrote a guide on flashing the Verizon phones to Boost.
Already error 16'ed three times. I'm a bit gun shy now. I'm sure our account has been flagged somehow. Worried that If I keep having to call them, they will can my account.
So the point is, she wants the MIFI to get data on her Note 8 and Note2 because I have not figured out the phone data issue yet. And I don't want an expensive plan, eventually I may figure it out.
Now that we have a couple MIFI's, Boost canned their el chepo plan.
That's why I'm asking what you guys are using now :)

What carrier and plan are you using for your MIFI programming now that Boost has taken away the .50c per day wireless internet plan?
John
Using Verizon Prepaid Basic plans and as for the issue with your boost phones you seem to have 2 issues going on.
1 - Error 16 is an invaild device error which means sprint knows you have a flashed phone on your account. Simply put an old boost meid on the account for 30 min and then put your s3 or note 2 back on and the error 16 should go away. If not put the boost meid back on and call dealer support 800-boost4u and dial 88 then a dealer code like 10105 and then ask them to reset your account because the data is in and out. Once done put the s3 or note 2 back on the account.
2 - Your data error is a simple fix if you have a real 3g ----- and a programer that will write the evdo and m.ip settings which is where most weekend warrior fail when flashing to boost. You can use some of the free programs like qpst but unless you really know what your doing or have a .qnc file all the luck in the world wont help. Basically you need the data keys and user authentication off the ----- and then set your phones to profile 1 and you will get data.
Also, contrary to the fact that "a lot of guys from here have TV in and couldn't fix them" that dosent mean that your issue is serious. Actually your issues are very basic and there are a lot of members on CDMA Gurus who can "Log" right in and fix it. Most of those members however have business and don't flash for free. So as a last resort your could pay one of them and they would probably have both phones working correctly in under 20 minutes.
Also a lot of information on flashing to Boost with the correct settings can be found in the Premium Sections for paid members so you can go that route if you really want to learn how to do it yourself.
Hope this helps

Well... the mighty elisa chimes in. I was wondering how long it would be before I could post something that I could get you to respond to without asking. hehe...
Well... everywhere I read, people are having a hard time flashing Verizon phones. Some don't seem like rookies.
The last error 16 came from the N2 with the BOOST incog data on it.
I've been using cdmaws 2.7 to pull aaa and ha keys and DFS 4.0 demo to write with.
Actually these phones have quite a history. While they are new-er phones, they were first flashed by a store in Orlando. Everything worked fine except MMS.
Well... I wont get into the details here but both of them inadvertently (or not) got rtn'ed back to Verizon.
And the saga began...
The cell store that did them (60 miles away) refused to do them again without paying. I could not do that again as I had two weeks prior been laid off. Total dicks. This happened within 7 days of original flashing. They would not give me the ----- phones and both the N2 and S3 showed Samsung M520's on our accounts. Both Rev 0 phones. Odd.
So... I have learned quite a bit working with these phones. I have now programmed 2 Sprint and 2 Virgin Mobile phones with no issues.
I purchased an incog and tried to do my wife's phone (N2) and there is NO difference. Voice and text, that's it.
Put the incog on her account, used all features a bit and then pulled AAA and HA keys, wrote data section and M.ip data section.
I did however write both profile 0 and 1 as AlpineMan suggest in his tutorial here: Galaxy Note II Flash to Boost, Virgin Mobile, Ting, etc. - xda-developers ([Only registered and activated users can see links])
Been over a month now. I guess eventually I'll get the nerve to try again. I'm gun shy as far as our own phones go.
Thanks for replying elisa, I really do appreciate hearing from YOU.
Oh yeah, I really really am trying to learn all this and maybe down the road open a store, but I have ADD and finding a comprehensive easy to understand guide has eluded me thus far.
Thanks,
John

PS - Is there any such thing as some kind of pre-configured file that I could load and just change the keys, meid, esn or whatever and write, and it would be good to go? This would ALSO help me learn. Is that what you meant by a qnc file?
PSS - I think what you are saying about the VW basic plan is that as long as you only use data and not voice or txt, you will not be charged the daily rate charge so you just keep on paying the basic plan charge and using data?

Hello John,
Ya I didn't know these are verizon phones that makes them slightly more complicated but not to hard.
That said probably 80% of "Flashers" can't flash them to boost
you can't pull your keys with 2.7 but you can get your nv items which would work if they were sprint phones but you can't set the R-UIM values correctly without cdma workshop that I know of.
Actually Deathtrip would probably know better then me I have just always used cdma workshop paid edition to do it and on the verizon version you will need to change that to nv only before your data keys will stick and then you need to access the EVDO Mip settings and write them whcih you can do with DFS Demo but there again with the paid version of cdma workshop you just read the whole nam and then write the whole nam back to the phones.
Do that twice reboot do it two more times reboot again and your down the road with data.
Remember to make sure you pull out and throw away the LTE Cards and if they are on 4.2.2 or higher you wont see the 3g icon but data will work if they are lower then 4.2.2 then you can pop in and att sim card and you will see the 3g icon.
I am not sure you can do it with the phones and tools your using but I am no expert with the cracked or free stuff
Sorry
As for being the..... "Mighty elisa" I don't know about that I've just flashed a ton of phones because I'm to dumb to get out of this profession!

Heh. Remember, you must change the M.IP profile IP addresses on the VZW device to match that of the Sprint/Boost device.
A lot of people forget there are more settings to change on a Verizon device than a Sprint device, because the Sprint device is already made to work on Sprint. With QPST it's really easy.
Just load up one Programming menu for the Sprint/Boost phone, and another for the Verizon phone. Copy all the values that don't match, save, and as long as you have the M.IP profile 0/1 user/pass set correctly, things should be fine... just like setting up the Verizon MiFi on Boost.

Hey deathtrip...
Appreciate you chiming in :)
And thank you very much for your expert tips elisa.
Correct me where I am going wrong.
I use cdmaws 2.7 to pull 1192 (32 character aaa) and 466 gives me 14 numbers and I use the last 12 for aaa short.
Everyone already knows that the ha is "secret" for verizon phones.
And DFS to write. The more I think about it, the more I wonder if DFS may be the problem. Seems like the aaa 32 and 12 are always changing.
I'd like to have the paid cdmaws but just can't wrap my head around it locking onto ONE computer.
Once I have the keys, I write them in the data and mip area. I put the meid and esn in the phone and write them. Of course the other data as
well.
Wow too must stuff to write here.
John
PS - I do change all data to sprint/boost

Deathtrip is right your better off using QPST in my opinion I used to have qnc files for all the different phones and I would just fill in the information the only problem with it is that it can be a little overwhelming. There are a lot of guides on flashing with it including some of mine on HOFO from the early metro days.
Even though there are much newer versions the interface hasn't changed much and I know it works with both your phones because I used qpst to pull some settings off a US Cellular note 2 recently
I think this is all the free help I'm offering but I hope it gets you in the right direction

This isn't that difficult. I can't see where you're having so many problems.
You read the NV Items, copy the proper values, paste them to the proper spot. The HA is going to be the word secret for both profile 0 and profile 1.
The Profile 0 AAA is static, it won't change, however the Profile 1 AAA is dynamic, it will change everytime you activate the phone on an account.

Hey deathtrip...
You are awesome for giving your advice and opinion.
You are right, this should not be difficult. I've done a few phones without issue, just not Verizon's.
Please do note though, that several people have TeamViewed in that flash phones all the time and can not get data working. One person even purchased a Verizon N2 to try to figure it out. Got his but could not get mine. Yes, odd indeed.
I'm about to lay the blame on software because the AAA HDR AN & HDR LONG keeps changing.
I took some screen shots from inside the phone. Is there any chance you might be kind enough to consider having a quick look at the them?
If that would be possible, please let me know how to get a zip file to you.
Thanks deathtrip,
John

We can teamview it but I don't have a set schedule when I could do it.
What you need to do is... Load up a Sprint MiFi in QPST, and then a Verizon MiFi in QPST. Look at the PPP/M.IP values. Edit the QPST with the Verizon MiFi attached to make it look EXACTLY like the Sprint (aside from the M.IP Profile Username/Password). This means changing the IP Addresses, and other values that don't match. Forgive me for not knowing which values are different, it's been a while since I've done a Verizon MiFi.
Also, be sure to put a Sprint PRL onto the Verizon MiFi. I posted one in the other thread a while back.

Hi deathtrip...
Actually, it's my wife's N2 that I am the most concerned about. I've done it over and over, checked settings till I'm blue in the face.
I now know ALL settings for Sprint/Boost by heart. Can recite them to anyone. Including server addresses. As gently and as politely as I can say it, I'm stating that they are correct.
Matter of fact, I've been trying to get this for so long now that I almost feel like saying "that's rookie stuff". EXCEPT... I have not gotten it. Data is just not working. Has to be something obscure that only a real pro (like you) could figure out.
My non pro guess is that it has something to do with profile 0 AAA's changing after I write them and use the phone. And the HDR AAA entries keeps freaking out as well. And I did not put anything under PPP either. It writes it on it's own.
And it keeps changing to all weird numbers, none of which are my correct AAA's. See image.
Thanks deathtrip,
John
PS - Forgot to mention... the ----- for the N2 from the original flash was a Samsung Sprint M520. A Rev0 phone, everything except MMS worked. The CURRENT data on the N2 is from a Boost Incog I picked up to try different AAA keys. No change.

pede69
10-13-2013, 03:57 PM
Well...
I read the NV items manually with CDMAWS 2.7 and they were not what they should be. So I rewrote them with Evolution 4.0 and rebooted. The 1x that I had is gone and upon reading NV items again, they are changed AGAIN. Ridiculous...
I've not mentioned it but the sim is out and I get no data without sim and emergency calls only.

*sighs* Not sure what you changed then.
pede69
10-14-2013, 05:46 PM
Well... I wrote them several times with DFS (non-demo). Then clicked the read button and they were fine. Only after I rebooted phone did I get different reading. Matter of fact the HDR AN had been changed to 28 digits and the HDR AN LONG to some weird 32 digit number resembling something like 3F3F3F3F3F3F3F00000864300000000766. AlpineMan's tut says to put your 32 digit AAA in both of those spaces.
Here's that tut for your reference: Galaxy Note II Flash to Boost, Virgin Mobile, Ting, etc. - xda-developers ([Only registered and activated users can see links])
J
PS - I know logic says that I am doing SOMETHING wrong but I'll be damned if I can figure out what. I followed AlpineMan's tut step by step and word for word. Over and over again.
Only thing I have not messed with is the cave keys.
Sad really... I am trying so hard to learn all this. It is my new self proclaimed new money earner. hehe... Maybe one day even opening a store :)

10-16-2013, 06:59 PM
Well... here is todays failed saga...
I pulled the AAA passwords and HA off the ----- (incog) again today. Wanted to learn how to do it with QXDM. I had used CDMAWS before. Actually like QXDM much better.
All three were the same. However when I went back into the phone again, the 32 digit AAA had changed AGAIN. Also the little round graphic next to the profile selection radio ticker is blue with a question mark next to it, not green. Also profile 0 and 1 has a 0 next to active users. (DFS)
I changed what needed to be changed, wrote data several times, disconnected from DFS and rebooted.
Same story, "no connection". (data)
Thanks,
John

Food for thought...
I am wondering if the missing Sim Card could have anything to do with it?
The Note2 (the most important one to get going, my wife's) has an image of a red Sim Card with an X on it at the top when it boots up and when you pull down from the top, it says no Sim Card.
If I select "turn on data" at the top it says, you must insert a Sim Card to receive data.
Thanks,

[QUOTE] You read the NV Items, copy the proper values, paste them to the proper spot. Done EXACTLY that.
The HA is going to be the word secret for both profile 0 and profile 1. Done.
The Profile 0 AAA is static, it won't change, My p0 is different every time I reboot and look again.
however the Profile 1 AAA is dynamic, it will change every time you activate the phone on an account. My p1 stays the same.

Hi deathtrip...
I've been at this for 1 1/2 months now.
Looks like I'm going to need some TV help. You had offered before, is that still doable?
I can deal with mine (S3) having issues if I must but my wife actually needs her data going. She needs to be able to use the map and look up phone numbers and addresses and such when she is volunteering for the Special Olympics and taking our son to his S/O events.
Our GPS took a dump. I'll get a new one when I go back to work.

Let's slow down here...
On the activated phone, the Incognito?... the Profile 0 AAA changes each time you read it? It should never change, and the Profile 1 AAA won't change ever while the phone is active, but if you deactivate it, then reactivate it, it will change to be the random 6 digit phrase that Sprint's network assigns.
IF the Incognito is having issues when you try to read the data from it, I'd just scrap it, grab a better EVDO Rev:A phone (that can be used with Boost) and activate it, THEN do the steps again to read/write the values. If the Incognito is the issue, stop fxcking with it and throw it away.

Thanks for the reply...
I may have my AAA's mixed up. I have ADD and get things backwards some times.
First off. Under the "Data" tab, (in DFS) the 32 digit HDR passwords keep changing. I put in the 32 digit AAA's write them, then read them. They are still there, as they should be. After I reboot the phone they have changed to weird numbers. Sometimes they will be 14 digits, sometimes 28 but never the 32 that I had put in until I rewrite them.
Under Mip
Profile 1 seems to be sticking just fine (AAA short). But the 32 digit AAA in profile 0 keeps changing to different numbers. Ha is fine.
Do not think the incog is an issue. It's numbers are always the same. In post 29, when I said "when I went back to the phone, I meant the N2"
Thanks,
John
PS - I'm not at home where the N2 is right now.

I don't use DFS, never have, probably never will.
I'm not exactly sure what the issue could be, but something you've done isn't right.
Use QPST, open up connection with it to the Incognito and look at the tabs regarding the PPP Config for Rm, Um, and AN, as well as the M.IP tabs.
Make sure you match the settings from the Incognito to the new phone.
Use QPST to write the Profile 0 Username, HA, and AAA that is from the Incognito.
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
If you don't know what the actual AAA is, you need to read NV Items 465-466, and 1192-1194 from the Incognito.
Make sure you DISABLE roaming on the "new phone" and if the settings have the option to select CDMA, GSM, LTE, set it to CDMA only.
I'm sure you've done all this, but switching between multiple programs trying to get 3G working on one phone isn't solving much. Most all of the programs do the same thing, and for 3G, you must have the information correctly wrote to the "new phone".
If all possible, try to get QPST going with both the Incognito and the "new phone" loaded (in QPST) and once you do that we can schedule a teamviewer session.
