Does anyone know how to re-install the os back to a wiped storm?
I bought one with no os for $30 thinking that i knew how, but apparently i don't :'(
I have this os ready to go: OS 5.0.0.328 but cant get the pc to read it at all.
EDIT: It says "Reload Software: 507" on the screen.

1.Get the most recent BlackBerry OS as you would do when you upgrade your BlackBerry OS.
2.Install this on your PC.
3.Connect your BlackBerry to your PC.
4.Make sure the BlackBerry Desktop Manager is NOT running.
5.Open a command line by going to: Start » Run… » enter “cmd” » HIT ENTER
6.Navigate to the Application Loader directory by entering: cd C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\
7.Enter and start: Loader.exe /nojvm
8.The BlackBerry’s Java Loader will pop up.
9.Follow the instructions and install the new OS on your device.
The BlackBerry should automatically reboot at the end of the installation process and your device is back working
Very nice bro, thank you very much!!!
Worked like a charm! :)

Or, with the battery out connect it to BB Desktop manager making sure you've uploaded the BB OS of your choice and deleted vendor.xml file out of the C:/Program Files/Common Files/Application folder. You then go to the link that says none on the bottom of desktop manager. It will show a BB:0 in the dialog box. Select this. Next, go to update and it'll check for the os version. Proceed to upload. Pop the battery back in when it starts uploading...

haha what happened to it?
also, even if bbdm doesn't show teh phone connected it will still write the new firm. i did it today on a curve.
lol, so if you are bored take a bb, go into the last tab of crackutil and wipe everything, then once you get the 507 screen open up bbdm, advanced, update firm and then choose the firm you want. don't quote me on those exact steps as i don't have bbdm on my comp. but it's pretty easy.

I use JL as well. Crack Utilities works fine on that for OS 4.5 and above. But JL doesn't care about the version. It also gives you the option to reset to defaults without clearing out the OS.

Do you hook it up to CDMA Workshop or QPST it could be corrupt?

To wipe the OS you can use "Crackutility"....Clearing Settings Tab....Wipe Device Applications...Close "Crackutility"....Then open BB Desktop Manager and Reload your OS.

Not necessarily. If the SPC is corrupt then you have a bigger problem on your hands then you think. Have you tried using CDMA workshop to read the SPC? if it doesnt then most likely it is corrupt.
