If your EVO is EVDO then use 2004 if it is a tri-band then use 3011. That is what is meant by the different designations.

As of right now 3015 is the latest .prl available and yes it works for all devices that I know of. You can also use CDMA workshop 2.7 to load .prl's but that is all you will be able to do with it.

3015 is the latest AWS (tri-band) PRL, but the latest EVDO that is still the one that is updated OTA is 2004 and the latest non-EVDO (1x) is 1004. Be careful of putting the wrong one on the phone as it will just end up rebooting over and over if the wrong one or a damaged one is put on the phone.

I don't know when they did the update but Metro has a new AWS prl now 3017. I periodically update mine on my phone to check and found this is what I got here in the SF Bay Area. The non-EVDO is still 1004 and the EVDO is 2004. I will add a link a little later when I have a chance to pull it off of a phone unless someone beats me to it before then.

The MetroPCS AWS PRL has been updated once again. It is now 3018.

I am not sure when the update happened, however 3019 is now the current AWS PRL.

What!? If you just want to look at it then try the OPEN WITH command under right click and use whatever editor, if you are trying to program it then open it with the 0orogram you are using. I would recommend that you do a little more research on this before playing!

What you are missing is you are trying to use an EVDO model phone (800/1900MHz) in an area that is AWS using 1700/2100MHz only. They can't use those other bands as they are already licensed to other carriers. No matter what PRL you use that model phone will NOT work. You MUST use an AWS capable phone on MetroPCS in the NY area.

Thanks that answers that question. and it sucks cause I bought 2 phones for me and my girl. I'm gonna have to look for another carrier that can support the evo at a discount monthly rate. I swear this is a great phone. I just don't want to pay $130 a month (x2) versus $80 for 2 lines!!!!

Thank you guys. ... now with a question: would you guys like to have the prl of the Esteem? if so. tell me how to do it and I'll upload it. I've got CDMA workshop but I don't have the full feature version.

While playing around with an old flip phone, I accidentally found that Metro has updated their non-EVDO PRL from 1004 to 1005 now.
I double checked the EVDO one too naturally and it is still at 2004 for reference.

Here is the new 1005 non-EVDO (1x only models) PRL:

If you have an EVDO phone (dual band) then use 2004, if you have an AWS (tri-band) version then use 3029.
Form California dial *22804 to access Metro directly and even if your phone is not online, they will give you the option to update PRL and they will select the right one.
Anywhere in the country, you can dial *2280x (the x means 0-7) to access a specific carrier's activation, and when you find Metro just select update PRL.
The only real exception to this is if you are using a Sprint phone. They setup their firmware to always access the Sprint activation, so you will need to know the right one, but the rules above will apply. Additionally, 1005 is the non EVDO (or 1x only) PRL.

1038 is not a Metro PRL. That sounds like an old Cricket one.
1005 is the current non EVDO, 2004 is the current EVDO and 3030 is the current AWS.

I have placed the 2004.prl file on this location in the iphone: System/librabry/carrier bundles/iPhone
and System/librabry/carrier bundles/iPhone/ZeppelinDAS_US.bundle

After a reboot, the About section still shows "Not available" under carrier.

Do I have to rename the file (I've noticed that there is a carrier.prl in the Zeppelin folder)?

this is posted in a couple other places in the forum as well. its 3026.prl for metro,seems to get 3g in more markets than other prl's.
