Apple isn’t the only company that’s gotten into hot water over alleged labor law violations. The Guardian reports that the Brazilian government has sued Samsung for over $100 million for alleged labor abuses that include workers working “up to 15 hours a day” with “insufficient breaks” at Samsung plants in Brazil. The government is also alleging that more than 200 workers have suffered from health problems that directly resulted from poor conditions in Samsung factories. Samsung says that it’s cooperating with the government and says that it “will conduct a thorough review” of its labor practices in Brazil. Samsung has previously been accused of employing child labor in Chinese factories so it’s no stranger to labor law disputes.
