The U.S. International Trade Commission today ruled that Samsung violated two patents owned by Apple, though it also cleared Samsung of violating four other Apple patents. The patents that Samsung was found to violate pertain to headphone jacks and scrolling behavior on mobile devices. The ITC ruled that Samsung should be prohibited from importing, selling, and distributing the devices that infringe on the patents. The ban goes into effect in 60 days, during which time the executive branch can choose to veto the ban. The products involved include the Samsung Galaxy Fascinate, Captivate, and S 4G, as well as the Galaxy Tab, and Galaxy Tab 10.1. Earlier this week, the Obama administration vetoed a similar ban that found Apple guilty of infringing on Samsung's patents. In the that case, however, the patents involved were standard essential and were thus held to a different standard. The patents Samsung was found guilty of infringing today are not standard essential.
