Tempo Telecom today announced the addition of new prepaid plans to its wireless services. The company is offering three different types of service plans: Monthly, PayGo, and Unlimited. The Monthly plans start at $9.95 per month for 50 minutes and range to $49.95 for 1000 minutes. Tempo bills text messages, picture messages, and data usage as "minutes," so 3 SMS equals 1 voice minute, 1MB of data equals 2 voice minutes, and 1 MMS equals 1 voice minute. Tempo allows Monthly customers to carry over unused minutes month-to-month. The PayGo plans also start at $9.95 per month and have 100-day cycles, rather than 30 or 60 days. The $9.95 plan, for example, provides 40 minutes of talk time (and the corresponding amount of SMS/MMS and data) that can be used any time over a 100-day period. The PayGo plans range up to $69.95 for 1000 minutes, SMS/MMS, and data. Last, Tempo offers unlimited plans that cost $44.95, $49.95, and $59.95 for unlimited voice and messaging, and 250MB, 1GB, and 2.5GB of data, respectively. Tempo is headquartered in Atlanta and is run by Birch Communications. It operates on Sprint's network. Tempo offers a handful of feature phones and smartphones that span price points between $19.95 for the Samsung Factor M260 flip phone to $249.95 for the Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone.
