this guide will provide you with a fully patched commcenter for GSM ip5 on 6.1

i am not going to include the patch address anymore with my cc patch's for several reasons.i seem to just be undermining myself by doing that.

the link at the bottom is the already patched commceter file you will need to un-rar it to get the file.
also you will need to press the thanks buttons to see the link

you will need "putty" google for it,also you will need a iphone explorer there are many out there, i will be using i funbox to upload/overwrite the commcenterClassic file to your phone.it has a cli like putty but i do not use it.

so lets get started.

navigate to /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/

you will find your commcenterClassic there. delete and copy the new file there, make sure you only delete commcenterClassic and not any other file, there are several that start with commcenter, but only one that is "commcenterClassic" that is the one the gsm phone uses.

do not turn off your phone after you do this until everything is done or you will need to restore.

now open putty and put your wifi ip address in the "host name/ip address box it will start with (192.168) and click open.
now for name type in root and for pass type in alpine

then simply copy and paste this command into putty

ldid -s /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/CommCenterClassic

and press enter,
then copy and paste this command in putty

chmod 755 /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/CommCenterClassic

and press enter.

this will change permissions if needed and
now your commcenter is patched and you can edit or load a custom bundle.

the file below is for this firm only 6.1.0 (5 GSM+CDMA): iPhone5,2_6.1_10B143_Restore.ipsw

if you need a patch for the file 6.1.0 (5 GSM): iPhone5,1_6.1_10B143_Restore.ipsw
look below in post number 10

Also might want to add that you need to download and install openSSH and ldid from Cydia before starting.

Thanks for the patch!

ok the problem may be that are 2 different ipsw's for iphone 5,they are as listed below

6.1.0 (5 GSM): iPhone5,1_6.1_10B143_Restore.ipsw
6.1.0 (5 GSM+CDMA): iPhone5,2_6.1_10B143_Restore.ipsw

this particular commcenter classic file was taken from the iphone5,2 file.you must have the other,if you do please pm me your commcenterclassic file and i will make you a patch for yours.

you will go by the build not the carrier bundle installed. if it doesnt work for you ck the firmware to make sure you are using the patch for the correct build/version

Can i run on a Japnese SoftBank iPhone5(a1429)?

these are the builds i know of for ip5
6.1.0 (5 GSM): iPhone5,1_6.1_10B143_Restore.ipsw
6.1.0 (5 GSM+CDMA): iPhone5,2_6.1_10B143_Restore.ipsw
6.0.1 (5 GSM): iPhone5,1_6.0.1_10A525_Restore.ipsw
6.0.1 (5 GSM+CDMA): iPhone5,2_6.0.1_10A525_Restore.ipsw
6.0.2 (5 GSM): iPhone5,1_6.0.2_10A551_Restore.ipsw
6.0.2 (5 GSM+CDMA): iPhone5,2_6.0.2_10A551_Restore.ipsw
6.0.0 (5 GSM): iPhone5,1_6.0_10A405_Restore.ipsw
6.0.0 (5 GSM+CDMA): iPhone5,2_6.0_10A405_Restore.ipsw
if you have a different build other than these it must be one of the betas or gold masters.
so just restore to the 6.1 that matches your phone, both of those builds i have posted patches for already.

Can anyone explain what patching the commcenter does on an iphone 5 at&T? thank you!
it allows for scriptable modification or replacement of your carrier bundle so you can get all features working with another carrier if you are unlocked.

Hi Rich,

Thanks again for the patched commcenter. I was wondering if can help me edit my AT&T iPhone 5 ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) Carrier Bundle? I want to change the LTE APN to "Broadband" because i'm using a SIM from a Portable HotSpot/Data Card.

Essentially I want to use my iPhone 5 as an LTE data only device. I use another device for voice calls.

If you know how to enable native tethering and set that APN to "Broadband" too that would be great.

This is my first iPhone since the original and lots has changed about the plist files since then. I'm real savvy with linux though (i'm a Telecom Systems Engineer) and have no problem copying the files off my phone and converting them form binary to xml and back agiain...anyway I know what i'm doing but I just need to know which files and apn fields to edit for LTE APN. There used to be just one APN in the bundle and now there are 4 in the main one plus an override_N41_N42 file plus another one I see called device+310410.... So hard to tell where to edit the APN now.

Cheers,

TK
