Guide: How to patch 6.0.1 commcenter in iphone4

EDIT: IF YOU ARE USING THE TOOL THIS IS NO LONGER REQUIRED AND IS NOW AUTOMATED ON THE TOOL FOR SUPPORT UP TO 6.0.1

this guide will provide you with a fully patched commcenter for cdma ip4 on 6.0.1 as well as give you the address to patch the file its self in case you do not wish to use the one i have already patched for you.

the link at the bottom is the already patched commceter file you will need to un-rar it to get the file.
also you will need to press the thanks buttons to see the link and get the patch address.

so you will need "putty" google for it,also you will need a iphone explorer there are many out there, i will be using i funbox to upload/overwrite the commcenter file to your phone.it has a cli like putty but i do not use it because it does not allow you to copy and paste,and i am to lazy to type everything..lol

so lets get started.

navigate to /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/

you will find your commcenter there.if you choose to delete and copy make sure you only delete commcenter and not any other file,there are several that start with commcenter,but only one that is one word "commcenter" that is the one the cdma phone uses.

no do not turn off your phone after you do this until everything is done or you will need to restore.

now open putty and put your wifi ip address in the "host name/ip address box and click open.
now for name type in root and for pass type in alpine

then simply copy and paste this into putty


ldid -s /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/CommCenter

and press enter,
then copy and paste this in putty

chmod 755 /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/CommCenter

and press enter.

this will change permissions if needed and
now your commcenter is patched and you can edit or load a custom bundle.

*you will need to reboot tethered also*

the patch address if anyone is interested is also included with the file below.

we will have the auto patch working on the tool in the next day or so,but for now use this.

all my bundles are working for most all carriers,but you can only get them if you buy tool credits.

I got the cricket carrier bundle installed and This fixed my talk and text, But data is a no go.. Any ideas?

this is not for data,it is to allow unsigned carrier bundles and mods to the existing one,for data you need to use iPhone/iPad CDMA Tool (iOS4.x-iOS6.x) ([Only registered and activated users can see links])

what sh client are you using

Putty. iFunBox also allows copy paste in their newer versions. Go figure.

try to reload your open shh packg,and use a diff shh client to see if it is the client you are using.i am using putty and have done over 50 iphones manuallyand have not had an issue like that.
if your in a shop,make sure you arnt sh'ing into the wrong device.
and i did not know the new funbox enables c&p,i was able to get c&p to work on ifb with the help of windows enabler but still didnt work correctly.

rich i want ask you about iphone 4s sprint locked for use it in cdma but gsm unlocked i can use any gsm carrier my question is if it update from 5.1.1 to 6.0.1 this will lock gsm also or will still gsm unlocked .thanks

Alright Rich, I couldn't use the first command on either client, so what I did was:

Used your patched commcenter file, ran the permissions command (which ran flawlessly) and then proceeded to use your CDMA tool to flash the carrier and programmed OTA.

Has this been uploaded to the tool yet? I downloaded the tool last night but I didn't know if I had to do this patch still. Could that be why my phone is not activating?

if its a sprint phone then yes that is why,and no its not on the tool yet,we are currecntly fixing a couple bugs that came with 6.0.1 so for now you need to do this manually.

update your putty and/or dl open ssh from the main cydia page and not a diff repo. if that doesnt work run the second chmod command first then run the first command again then the second,your permissions may have been changed for your commcenter.

@ ------------, To simply state the obvious

1.I do this for free when I have time on my hands to help people out
2.If people know how to READ the first post on my thread then people should know its in the works with a restore warning
3.I do not have the device (clearly stated on the first post) because all my money went to the other devices i purchased to support people (for free)
4.At the end of the thread I always give the users a warning of what will happen if it doesnt work and that ill need someone to test it out.

So next time learn to read before posting.

it takes about 5 min once you see the pineapple,be patient and dont unplug your phone.

I have a tool i made in c#.net and its an automated tool that takes care of commcenter automatically for you without even using wifi. Had it awhile but seems like so many people still need help still so me. NO charge either its actually gonna be a crippled copy of my tool that full flashes my customers iphones.

the whole point of a cc patch is to edit or install new carrier bundles or,which will require rebooting tethered so these peeps will be in the same boat. i will say that i have personally done over 500 iphones and maybe only once ever had a phone "hang" on the pineapple,you guys just are not giving redsn0w enough time to finish.

you can use idapro,winhex,bsdiff,visual studio,or several other tools to get it done.i use idapro myself, its a fantastic dissasembler for finding dependencies.

is there any diffrence in doing this patch this way and via cydia repo ............, i didn understand, coz i have did it that way through cydia, so should i repeat this way also to work the patch correctly on 6.0.1,
