Apple has removed the YouTube app from the base installation of iOS in the latest beta version distributed to developers. The app has come standard with iOS since the original iPhone, before Apple allowed third-party apps. Google may offer a standalone version in the App Store once iOS 6 is released. Apple has been distancing itself from Google apps and services since Google launched Android, making itself a major competitor with Apple. iOS 6 also includes an Apple-developed Maps app to replace the Google Maps app included with previous versions of iOS.
