Hulu today announced an expansion in the availability of free content that will extend to mobile devices. Hulu said it will begin delivering a selection of ad-supported television shows to mobile devices for free this summer. Previously, customers had to pay a monthly fee to access Hulu content on mobile devices. Hulu said it is "reimagining mobile viewing" and wants to make sure its customers have access to more content no matter what device they are using. The company noted it plans to relaunch its Hulu Plus iPhone application in conjunction with the new mobile content offering. Hulu did not say exactly when the free content and new iPhone app will become available. Hulu offers a wide range of streamed video content to desktop and mobile devices. Desktop machines can watch for free, but Hulu Plus typically costs $8 per month.
